Strategy games you can play in the browser

Strategy here means decisions made in advance that play out without you: a deck built before the duel, or a road chosen before the army marches. Routefront is a siege strategy game on a freshly generated map. Supplies arrive every second, and you spend them on troops, research and new roads, then choose the path your units take to the enemy keep. The keep falls ring by ring, fence first, then towers, workshops and finally the hall, and holding monster camps along the way lets you train Treants that break walls or dragons that fly. A siege lasts a few minutes of game time and can be run at double speed. Emberdeck is turn-based: build a 20-card deck from three factions and take it into duels with computer opponents who each play a different style, from a wall of Guard units to an early rush. Hold the Gate is a newer arrival. These games reward thinking a step ahead more than fast hands, and Routefront and Emberdeck both run with a mouse on a computer or with taps on a phone.

Questions

Are the strategy games real-time or turn-based?

Both kinds are here. Routefront runs in real time, with pause and a 2× speed button, while Emberdeck is turn-based, so you can take as long as you like over each move.

Is the map the same every time in Routefront?

No. Each siege builds a new map from a random seed, with one road across always open and several bridges and passes you can pay to build.
